Q: What would be the cost of our wedding cake?
A: All of our cakes are custom designed. The cost of a cake is determined by its size, flavor(s), shape, decorative detail, buttercream covering layer, fondant, the style and quantity of gumpaste flowers, bows, ribbons, delivery, etc. We would be happy to provide a quote for the total cost of your cake at your free hour of consultation.
Q: What are gumpaste flowers?
A: Gumpaste flowers are edible products made from sugar. The flowers are made from pliable paste, one petal at a time and are usually wired into bouquets, sprays, or arrangements that make wonderful keepsakes. The paste for making the flowers is prepared from edible ingredients. Unfortunately by the time the flowers are hardened and wired they would not make a very tasty delight. All of our flowers, bows, etc., are meticulously handcrafted for your cake. Hours of painstaking work are spent to acquire the genuine form of the flowers, bows and other decorative items. All of our items are made exclusively for use on our cakes and cannot be purchased separately.
Q: Can we have natural flowers on our cake?
A: We discourage the use of natural flowers and as an alternative highly recommend using our gumpaste flowers. Some natural flowers contain pesticides and could result in health impairment. Our gumpaste flowers are extremely realistic and will amaze your guests when informed that the flowers are sugar art. They are so natural looking that at one occasion we were approached by a florist who requested the name of the establishment where we purchased our flowers. He commented on their perfect shape and bloom. If you do elect fresh flowers ensure that there aren’t any pesticides on them.
Q: Do we have to know what design we want before we make a cake appointment?
A: You could, but it isn’t necessary. We have a large selection of books and photos for you to decide from. Your cake design can be a replica taken from print and therefore assure that your cake is a unique and distinctive presentation and not seen at any other attended weddings.
